About Us

Simple. Honest. Straightforward.

We believe every home should have hot water without the guesswork, energy waste or repair headaches.

What We Do

GeyserLab is your one-stop resource for geyser reviews, installation guides and maintenance tips. We test water heaters, break down the technical stuff and share what works.

No marketing fluff. Just real-world testing and honest advice.

Our Story

I had to handle frustrated customers. I heard this complaint every day: “Why does my water take 30 minutes to heat up?” Why is the temperature not the same? Why is my electric bill so high?

I had installed geysers in 2-story houses, high-rise buildings and I realized something. Majority of the people were purchasing the incorrect units, installing them improperly or maintaining them in a poor manner.

So I started GeyserLab.

Who We Are

My name is Anup Nag and I have been a geyser installer and repairer over 5 years. I possess a diploma in electronics and this gives me the knowledge of the mechanical and electrical aspect of such systems.

One disgruntled technician has become a small team with a mission to make hot water easy to everybody.

We are not perfect. We never stop learning and refining our testing processes.

Our Mission (The Real One)

We want to eliminate the confusion around water heaters. Whether you’re choosing your first geyser or troubleshooting your tenth repair we want you to feel confident about your decisions.

Hot water shouldn’t be complicated.

How We Test

Every geyser that comes through our lab goes through the same rigorous process. We use more than 10 individual tests and gather over 20 data points on each unit.

Here’s exactly how we do it:

  1. Initial Setup Testing – We test the time it takes to install, test the quality of the components and test all safety features
  2. Heating Performance – We measure the time to heat to 60 C, temperature stability and heat retention
  3. Energy Consumption – We check power consumption during heating and standby times
  4. Real-World Simulation – We simulate performance in different usage patterns (morning rush, evening showers etc.)
  5. Long-Term Testing – We test units over weeks to ensure that they do not degrade in performance
  6. Safety Check – We check pressure relief valves, thermostat accuracy and electrical safety7. Maintenance Requirements – We record cleaning requirements, availability of parts and frequently occurring problems
  7. User Experience – We rank controls, installation difficulty and warranty service

Our Stats (So Far)

  • 47 geysers tested and reviewed
  • 200+ installation guides published
  • 5 years of experience
  • 1,000+ customers served through direct installation work
  • 20+ data points per geyser test
  • 10+ tests per unit

How We Make Money (Full Transparency)

We want you to know exactly how this site works financially.

Affiliate Commissions: We get a small commission when you purchase a geyser using our links. It does not affect your price, but it keeps our testing lab going.

Direct Partnerships: We are sent units by some manufacturers to test. We always declare this and we do not compromise our testing standards irrespective of who supplies the unit.

Installation Services: I continue to make local installations in Silchar, Assam. This practical work helps me to be in touch with real customer issues.

We do not suggest products simply because they pay better commissions. We do not test differently when we make 100 or 1200 on a sale.

Our Scoring System

Every geyser gets rated on five key areas:

  • Heating Performance (30%) – Speed, consistency, temperature accuracy
  • Energy Efficiency (25%) – Power consumption, standby losses, operating costs
  • Build Quality (20%) – Components, construction, expected lifespan
  • Installation & Maintenance (15%) – Setup complexity, service requirements
  • Value for Money (10%) – Price vs. features vs. performance

We don’t do half-point ratings. A geyser either performs well in a category or it doesn’t.

Our Team

We are not licensed plumbers or electricians (though I do have that electronics diploma). Installation and major repairs should always be done by local professionals.

Our tests are conducted on our experience, however, your experience may differ due to water quality, use patterns and installation conditions.

We have affiliate links, which means that we may earn a commission when you buy something through our links. However, we only promote the products that we would trust to buy our own families.

What’s Next

We are constantly adding new testing capabilities and reviews. Have a particular geyser you’d like us to test? Tell us.

We’re also creating more comprehensive maintenance guides and troubleshooting videos.
